Privacy Policy

This policy covers Bear Camp apps and tools, including Camp Planner, Camp Tent Allocation, Camp Chores, and future Bear Camp programs unless a separate policy is provided.

Simple summary

Bear Camp apps are designed around user-controlled camp files. They do not sell your data, use advertising trackers, or require marketing accounts. Most planning data stays on your own device unless you choose to save it somewhere else or use an optional online feature.

1. About Bear Camp apps

Bear Camp apps are hobby-built planning tools for camps and similar group events. Current tools include Camp Planner, Camp Tent Allocation, and Camp Chores. Future Bear Camp programs are also covered by this policy unless they provide their own privacy policy.

The apps allow users to create, open, save, manage, export, and print their own planning information.

2. Information entered into the apps

Users may choose to enter information such as camper names, leader names, team names, tent names, group names, rota items, duties, sessions, menu details, kit details, dietary notes, medical notes, schedule items, notes, and allocation details.

This information is used so the user can organise and manage their camp planning. Users are responsible for deciding what information is appropriate to enter, store, print, export, or share.

3. Data collection

Bear Camp apps do not collect personal information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or resale.

The apps do not:

  • sell, rent, or trade user data;
  • use advertising or marketing trackers;
  • track users across other apps or websites;
  • require a Bear Camp marketing account;
  • collect analytics about individual users for advertising;
  • access contacts, messages, photos, microphone, camera, or location unless a future feature clearly asks for a capability and explains why.

The developer does not receive local camp files just because the user creates, opens, saves, edits, exports, or prints them.

4. Local files and user-controlled storage

Bear Camp apps work with files that the user chooses to create, open, save, export, or print. These files remain under the user's control on their own device or chosen storage location.

If a user chooses to save files in a cloud-synced folder, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or another service, that storage is controlled by the user and by the relevant cloud provider. Bear Camp apps do not control those services.

5. Optional online features

Some current or future Bear Camp apps may include optional online features, such as opening support links, opening this privacy policy, visiting Microsoft Store pages, sending feedback, accepting tips through a third-party service, or live collaboration.

If a user chooses to use an optional live collaboration feature, the information needed to share that planning session may be sent to the online service used for collaboration. That information may include the camp planning content in the shared file, such as names, tent allocations, rota details, menu details, kit details, notes, and other project data. Other people who are given access to the shared session may also be able to see and edit that shared planning data.

Users should only use optional online features for information they are allowed to share. If a user does not want camp data to be transmitted through an online collaboration service, they should use local files and not start or join a collaboration session.

External services such as the Microsoft Store, Ko-fi, email providers, browsers, cloud storage providers, or collaboration infrastructure may process information under their own privacy policies.

6. Children's information

Bear Camp apps may be used by adults to organise camp information that could include children's names or other details. This information is entered and managed by the user.

The developer does not ask children to create accounts, provide personal information, or contact Bear Camp directly through the apps.

7. Restricted capabilities

Bear Camp apps may be packaged as desktop applications and may use the Windows runFullTrust capability. This is used only to allow packaged desktop applications to run normally.

This capability is not used to modify system settings, install services, monitor users, access other apps' private data, or perform administrative actions.

8. Data security

Because camp planning data is usually stored locally or in user-selected storage, users are responsible for keeping their own files secure. Users should take care when storing, sharing, backing up, collaborating on, exporting, or printing files that contain personal information.

9. Data deletion

Bear Camp apps do not hold a central copy of ordinary local planning files. To delete local data created with the apps, users can delete the relevant saved files from their own device or storage location.

For optional online collaboration or third-party services, deletion may depend on the service used and the user's own account, browser, device, or storage settings.

10. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time if Bear Camp apps change, new programs are released, optional online features are added, or further clarification is needed. The latest version will be made available on this page.
